The Independent Game Production (IGP) major is THE Game Design major at DAE. The curriculum is built around game design as its core specialty, ensuring that every skill you learn, whether in art, programming, or production is focused on executing and realizing the games you design.

 

IGP teaches you how to develop games from concept to market, blending game design, art, development, and production into a holistic learning experience. The program places a strong focus on entertainment-driven indie video games, preparing students to develop for various platforms such as Steam (PC), consoles, and mobile. Whether you aspire to start your own indie studio or work in the game industry, IGP provides the technical, creative, and entrepreneurial skills to bring your ideas to life.

 

Through industry collaborations with Flanders Game Hub, students can refine their entrepreneurial skills through Indieship, our startup-focused internship program that helps turn game concepts into viable businesses. Even before the inception of the Indieship program, many IGP graduates have gone on to start their own studios, such as MoonMonster Studios, Salty Lemon Entertainment, Beeswax Games, Godspear Games, Boxsun,.... while others have secured positions as game designers, Unity developers, and producers in established companies.

 

As part of DAE’s award-winning reputation, IGP has been recognized internationally, earning distinctions in 2024 such as The Rookies Mobile Game of the Year and first place in Production Excellence for Mobile Games. Our graduates are equipped to thrive in an ever-evolving industry, mastering not just game development, but also how to launch and sustain games in the marketplace.
